Apsens in the Snow

So, what to do on a snowy Saturday afternoon in February?  Why, go take photos, of course!

I've taken these aspens before, particularly in autumn, but I liked them in the snow.  I kind of wish I'd had a bit of sunlight to play with, but the cloudy day made for a nice even lighting.

Laie Temple

I got to spend a wonderful evening at the beautiful Laie, Hawai'i LDS temple.  This quickly became one of my all-time favorite temples!  The building is so beautifully white, and the grounds are awesome.  I kept wishing I had a bride to take around photographing with me.

Oahu Waves

Just got back from a marvelous trip to the beautiful Hawai'ian island of Oahu.  I spent an enjoyable afternoon just capturing the amazing blue waters and crashing waves of the North Shore beaches.  It's amazing how blue this water really is.  No Photoshop required.  ;-)

My other lovely ballerina.  These girls were so fabulous!

Ballerinas in the Snow (Ballerina #1)

So, super kudos to my beautiful ballerinas, Karin and Allison, who got dressed in tutus and pointe shoes to take photos in a snowstorm.  They were freezing, but they did so great!

The idea came to me when we had a nasty storm scheduled and I wanted to do something fun in the snow.  I liked the idea of doing something all-white, but had no brides scheduled...so I landed on ballet dancers.

This was my first girl.  She actually made the tutu featured in the shoot.

Provo Temple in the Snow

Sometimes it pays to get up early.  I am not a morning person, we have a mutual hate thing going -- but last week I decided to bravely rise before the sun in order to capture the Provo Temple at sunrise, right after a fresh snow.  The intention was to capture brilliant colors, which would paint the sky as well as the snow...but Mother Nature, as she so often does, had other plans.  The mountains were covered in fog, there was consistent cloud cover, and there were no bright colors.

However, I ended up pleased with the result!  It had a much different mood than I intended, but I'm glad I shot anyway; I think the end justified the means.  You be the judge.
